Managing Director

about

Brainwave Communications - Nairobi, Kenya

June is a high-level professional marketer with more than 24 years of experience in advertising and marketing. Her philosophy has always been, “Do it with passion or not at all.”

She kicked off her career at Young & Rubicam, Kenya, and during her tenure she represented Kenya at the Young & Rubicam Young Achievers’ Course in South Africa. After eight years, she transitioned to the client side where she became marketing manager of Goodyear Kenya. There, she was responsible for successfully launching the Goodyear tire brand into Kenya. However, it didn’t take her very long to realize that her passion was in advertising and so she returned to the agency side.

In 2004, June set up Brainwave Communications with Rio Alves with the vision of making Brainwave the leading communication agency in Africa. Over the past few years, June has led her team to several successful pitches and Brainwave has been lauded for building several strong brands in Kenya.

June’s focus is to propel Brainwave to greater heights and produce outstanding work that makes waves locally, regionally and internationally. Her key strengths lie in communication strategy development, client servicing, new business development and administration.

On a personal note, June loves to give back to her community. Her greatest ambition is to open a rehabilitation center for street children in Kenya and provide them with employment opportunities so that they can stop begging for money on the streets.

Over weekends, she loves to snuggle up with her cat, Koko (aka Kokonut), in front of her television to catch up on her favorite series and Mexican soaps.

June serves as a Regional Director on the ICOM board for Sub-Sahara Africa, including the countries of Ghana, Kenya, Nigeria, South Africa, Tanzania, Uganda and Zambia.
