Native Hawaiian Hospitality Association Wraps up Second Tourism Conference
Native Hawaiian Hospitality Association (NaHHA), one of several nonprofit organizations that have chosen the integrated services of Loomis-ISC, recently wrapped up its Second Native Hawaiian Tourism Conference. NaHHA’s mission is to promote Hawaiian culture, values and traditions in the workplace through consultation and education as well as to provide opportunities for the Native Hawaiian community to shape the future of tourism.
The purpose of the Second Native Hawaiian Tourism Conference was to enable partnerships and inspire actions that result in implementation of the Hawaiian Culture Initiative (HCI) Action Plan and:
- greater collaboration between Hawaiian businesses, community, and the visitor industry;
- increased integration of Hawaiian culture in hotels and other businesses;
- practices that care for our natural environment; and
- creative tourism, empowered communities and successful businesses.
The day and a half event conducted by the Native Hawaiian Hospitality Association featured three exceptional keynote speakers: Dewitt Jones, Andrew Te Whaiti and Dr. Pualani Kanaka‘ole Kanahele, informative workshops, a marketplace of Hawaiian artists, organizations, businesses, and an awards dinner. Speakers and presenters included Hawaiian leaders in business, cultural experts (kumu), educators, visitor industry employees, leaders involved in care of our natural environment, and technology innovators.
