| Before and after lunch we had two local speakers. The first was Pedro Jose de Zavala, marketing manager of Le Comercio newspaper, who talked about an innovative form of agency compensation he was using. The second was Eduardo Villa, an economist at Banco de Credito who addressed the impact of the global economic crisis in emerging markets.
The Best Ideas Management was won by the host, Hernan Campos for the very innovative “mini-movies” Causa had done to help win new business.
The last business session of the day was a round table discussion of how the members were planning to deal with a tough 2009.
The group then boarded a bus for a tour and reception at the Causa agency. The agency is in the oldest section in Peru and was celebrating its 65 anniversary. The agency produced a video that showed how the development of Peru and Causa were connected. The visitors were entertained by a festive group of native musicians and dancers. This was followed by a delightful seafood meal at a restaurant on a pier over the ocean.
The next day started with the Best Ideas Creative competition. It was won by Daniel Walker of WZ, Santiago, Chile. Their idea was to do a web site for their paint manufacturer client, Ceresita that would help customers select the type, color and amount of paint they would need to use to redo a room in their house.
After a discussion of the potential ICOM marketing plan and regional new business opportunities the group adjourned for a city tour of Lima and dinner at a restaurant at the site of an old Incan archeological dig.
The PowerPoint presentations and pictures from Lima are available in the Library section of the ICOM web site http://www.icomagencies.com.
