Not rehearsing.
Senior agency people hate to rehearse. Partly that’s because they probably haven’t written out what they’re going to say (“don’t worry, I can wing it.”) And partly because they don’t like to be observed stumbling in front of their peers, superiors and subordinates (for some reason they prefer to do that in the actual presentation.)
Anyone with theater experience will tell you that after the first full rehearsal you feel like you want to cancel the performance and go home. Even after the second rehearsal you think you’ll bomb.
But, after the third one, all of a sudden, everything starts to come together . . . which is why you need to do 3 rehearsals to be great.
Some agency managers will say that, “there’s no time.” The response to that is: "if you want to win more, make time."
