Rayken Brand Communication - Guangzhou, China

UCLG Guangzhou Conference

Background:

Established in May of 2004, United Cities and Local Government (UCLG) is currently the world’s largest organization representing the interests of cities and local communities. UCLG represents over one half of the world’s population, with memberships including 112 local government associations and over 1000 cities across 95 countries. It is present in seven world regions – Africa, Asia Pacific, Europe, Eurasia, Middle East and Western Asian, Latin America, North America.

In 2009 Guangzhou will host the UCLG World Council Meetings. Rayken has been invited to be the designer of the image and logo for the event.   

The Theme for this event will be “Urban Wisdoms for Global Economic Crisis”.

Our Challenge:

How do we represent Guangzhou as a developed metropolis while preserving its local features when presenting this event’s theme?

Using “G” to represent Guangzhou as the one of the key elements, it will be colored in a bright/balanced azure and light green. It will also feature the native Kapok flower, the official flower of Guangzhou City, to demonstrate the new opportunities that this event will bring to the member cities in the future
