BKV’s Atlanta office has a lot to celebrate. A website the team recently redesigned for client Sokolove Law, the largest marketer of legal services in the country, was honored with the Webby Awards’ “Official Honoree” distinction in the Law category. The same website received “Best in Show” in the South Star Awards competition, which is sponsored by the Atlanta Direct Marketing Association.
The site—Mesothelioma Resource Center (www.mesorc.com)—is an in-depth resource center and online community for victims of mesothelioma, a rare, terminal form of cancer directly linked to asbestos exposure. For years, asbestos manufacturers and companies that used asbestos were aware of the risks, but failed to protect workers from its harmful effects. The latency period between exposure and the development of mesothelioma can be 20 to 40 years, so victims may not be aware of their asbestos exposure until many years later. The goal of the site is to drive leads for Sokolove by helping victims and their families learn about their disease and the options for pursuing financial assistance given the exorbitant costs associated with their medical care, as well as providing for families after the death of the victim.
With nearly 10,000 entries received from all 50 states and more than 60 countries, the Official Honoree distinction is awarded to the top 15 percent of all work entered in the Webby Awards competition. This recognition truly represents an incredible achievement for our team in Atlanta.
