Creative In-house - Bangkok, Thailand

The challenge: To launch a new hotel brand in Asia that also includes a residential property component, selling initially in several locations along the ultra-competitive and booming Eastern Seaboard of Thailand. GlenAsia Resort + Residences is a joint venture between a group of Scandinavian businessmen and their Thai partners, and the project must appeal to both local and foreign buyers, allied behind a unique and persuasive brand story.

Inhouse solution:  Two separate projects had been given two unrelated names, but in the interests of consistency, the GlenAsia name was brought to the forefront. Then, a unique positioning was developed which reflects the brand’s unique melding of Scandinavian and Asian cultures: Thai Warmth, Scandinavian Cool.

This idea of contrasting and mixing the best of both worlds carries through into all aspects of the brand’s visual identity, including brochures, digital, outdoor, print ads, and a talk-of-the-town launch event. Both foreign and local buyers responded strongly to the idea of a product which combined the hospitality, warmth, friendliness and great climate of tropical Thailand beachfront living with the functionality, precision and quality of cool Scandinavian design. This positioning also flowed through to be integral to the hotel brand, underpinning a unique service philosophy that also embodied the best aspects of these two cultures. The client liked the concept so much that some elements of the interior design of both projects – GlenAsia Resort + Residence – Bang Saray, and Glen Asia Resort + Residence – Tropical Beach Rayong – were altered to reinforce this idea of contrasts.
