| The mistake: believing your really cool web site is really selling you effectively.
100% of decision-makers look at the web sites of 100% of the agencies they’re considering. Before they contact them to meet.
Your web site is the first impression prospects have of your agency.
So if your web site isn’t up to par, you’re undoubtedly missing opportunities. And you’ll never know it. They’ll just take a quick look and move on.
Sites that sell effectively:
- Have a sense of personality.
- Showcase many agency people in a dynamic way.
- Have just a few examples of the best work, not dozens.
- Segment the work by type, e.g., “print,” vs. by client.
- Show the work large enough to be easily read (or have a zoom-in option).
- Avoid long blocks of copy.
- Explain who your clients are (most companies aren’t well known.)
- Use a font size that’s easy to read.
- Allow for type to be enlarged, i.e., no “flash.”
- Don’t use light gray type on white, or dark gray on black.
