This is the last “new” GLOBE before we all meet in Cancun.  DeAnna and I will be anxious to hear your comments about the new format.

Speaking of Cancun let me tell you more about what to expect.  The theme is Preparing for Tomorrow.  The idea is to help you get ready for the fast changing marketplace you and your clients will face tomorrow.  Here’s what we have in mind.

Gary Photo

The first preparation we’ll make is the installation of our new president, Rino Ferrari. He’ll take over from the long-serving Frank Weyforth at our reception Sunday evening.

We’re planning on more multi-member accounts, so we’d better learn how the multinationals run them.  Eddie Gonzales, Chairman & CEO of Young & Rubicam Latin America; will present four global case histories; a car, a toothpaste, a copier and a consultant. Yes, he is an old friend of mine but he has also run global accounts in Asia, Europe, North America as well as Latin America. He knows how it’s done.

“Doctor” Bob Morrison will again lead a discussion on what is keeping you up when you think about new business. This session will feature winning presentations and a discussion of techniques.

A digital guru will tell us about the next technology wave, mobile marketing.  Gene Keenan, Principal, Isobar, will explain about how ads, promotions etc. will work on your phone.

Word of Mouth advertising, believe it or not, is now a $1 billion business.  Brad Fay, COO, Keller Fay Group, will tell all. Pass it on.

If you are thinking some tomorrow at your agency will not include you, then you’ll want to hear John Prunier, Partner, Petsky Prunier, discuss succession planning and your exit strategy.

Our mixed teams brainstorming this year will focus on another important issue for all our tomorrows, “How to Raise the Profile of ICOM”.  Mike Brown of YRC Worldwide will facilitate.

We’ll discuss the revised By-Laws/Policies, improved finances, the new web site and whatever more you wish to discuss at the annual general meeting.

These are just a few of the business highlights.   There will also be time for tanning, mixed teams beach volleyball, shopping, marvelous dining and drinking and a special companion’s program in beautiful and warm Cancun, Mexico.

See you there.
