Dear Friends,

I’m sorry to report to you that we have lost another long-time ICOM member and close friend to cancer.  In little over a year Yiannis Stathis at Win in Athens, John Cohen at PMP in Hong Kong and now Frans Passet of WPC in Amsterdam have passed away.

As most of you know, Frans was one of the pillars of the European Region.  He worked hard to move clients across the changing borders of Europe and served clients from other members well in the Dutch market.  Frans was an enthusiastic supporter of the EEIG organization that legally linked ICOM members in Europe so they could effectively compete for business from the European Union.

He was also an innovator in his own company and in the network.  Within his small agency he saw the benefits to his clients of offering integrated services beyond traditional advertising and design.  He was one of the first in Europe to established public relations and interactive digital development within his agency.

He also understood before most people that green and organic marketing were going to be important in the 21st century and did a lengthy white paper on the subject that he unselfishly shared with ICOM members around the world.  His vision and friendly spirit will be sorely missed by all.

We extend our sympathies to his family and the staff at WPC.

Frans Passet was 64.

It’s time to gather your projected total billings and gross income for 2008. Email your numbers to me no later than December 15, 2008. Also, please indicate the number of branch offices you have. Gross income is defined as the addition of:

• All commissions earned on media placement (media sales less cost of sales when you do the buys yourself) or media placed by media centers (the agency does not do the buys but received a % of the media buys made by a third party).

• Any income from internal cost charged or fees of any kind (fixed, variable, manhours, creation, layout, final artwork, etc.)

• Production mark-up/commissions.

• Rebates and volume discounts kept by the agency (not cash discounts) from media and production vendors

If you have any questions concerning this, contact me soon so that there are no delays. Your gross income is used to calculate annual dues. We also provide the combined total of gross billings from all members to Ad Age for their annual survey of associations.

The member agencies listed below have unpaid invoices that are over 90 days past due:
