Fifty years in business is something to celebrate. Budget Car Rental celebrates their 50th anniversary this year. An interactive flash timeline and wiki was conceived to give employees a visual and editorial picture of Budget’s history, as well as the opportunity to add to that history through the wiki. Although the standard media wiki platform has limited design options, the additional flash timeline provided an opportunity for creativity.
Our client asked for a design that was hip and exciting, incorporating their blue and orange brand colors. Our approach was to capitalize on a road trip theme, using road signs as decade markers. A launch sequence displays imagery from Budget’s history. At any point, a user can click a decade to travel there. Once the user arrives in a specific decade, they can discover its highlights. From each decade users can delve into details within the wiki.
